Student moves are short, cheap and time-sensitive. One mover and a 15 m³ Transit will clear a full room, and the run from Wigan to Manchester or Preston is under an hour each way.
Book around the September rush
The two weeks either side of the first term start are the busiest days of our year. Book three weeks ahead if you want a Saturday, or take a midweek slot and pay for fewer waiting hours.
Halls have rules — read them first
Most halls in Manchester and Salford operate move-in windows, a loading bay and a lift booking. Turning up outside your slot can mean an hour parked up, and that hour is billable.
- Check the move-in window and the loading bay location
- Book the service lift if the block has one
- Have the room key or fob collected before we arrive
What to bring, what to leave
Bedding, kitchen basics, desk kit and clothes fill less than half a Transit. Leave bulky furniture behind unless your contract says the room is unfurnished.
Frequently asked questions
How much is a student move from Wigan to Manchester?
Most single-room student moves are covered by two hours with one man and van at £45 per hour, plus any floor surcharge where there is no lift.
Can you move two students in one trip?
Yes, if both rooms are in the same building or nearby — splitting the hourly cost between you is the cheapest option available.
