About us
A local van, a real person on the phone
Wigan Man & Van is a small, family-run removals firm working out of Wigan and covering the whole of the North West. If you need a man and van in Wigan, you speak to the person who will actually turn up — not a call centre reading from a script and passing your job to whoever is cheapest that week.
Everything travels in our own Ford Transit LWB 15m³: a genuine 15 cubic metre load space that clears most one and two-bedroom homes in a single run. Blankets, straps, a stair-climbing trolley and floor protection come in the back of the van as standard, never as a line on your bill.
A single wardrobe from Atherton, a student flat in Bolton, an office clear-out in Warrington or a four-bedroom house heading to Preston — the clock starts when we arrive and stops when the last box is in. Finish early and you pay less; that is the whole pricing model.

How much does a home removal in Wigan cost?
We charge a simple hourly rate: £45/hr for one man and van, or £70/hr for two movers. There is a two-hour minimum, and the clock starts when we arrive at your door. Most one and two-bedroom moves in Wigan, Leigh or Bolton finish within 3–5 hours, so you only pay for the time you use.
Are stairs or lift access charged extra?
House stairs are included in the hourly rate. For flats, we add £10 per floor per mover — so a first-floor flat is +£10 per person, second floor +£20, third floor +£30, and so on. If your building has a working lift, there is no extra charge at all.
What are your working hours?
We normally work Monday to Saturday, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. Early-morning and late-evening slots are available on request for office moves and tight completion dates. Sunday moves can be arranged for urgent jobs.
Do you cover areas outside Wigan?
Yes. We are based in Wigan and regularly travel across Leigh, Atherton, Ashton-in-Makerfield, Golborne, Lowton, Hindley, Tyldesley, Shevington, Bolton, St Helens, Warrington, Manchester and Preston. Longer runs to Preston or Manchester are charged by the same hourly rate from arrival back at base.
What is included in the price?
The van, driver, fuel within the local area, blankets, straps, a stair trolley and basic dismantling tools are all included. We also carry goods-in-transit and public liability insurance as standard. You only pay extra for flat-floor surcharges or specialist packing materials if you choose them.
