People underestimate loading and overestimate driving. On a local move inside Greater Manchester, the drive is rarely more than 15% of the bill.
08:00 — Arrival and walk-through
We walk every room with you, agree what is going and what is staying, protect doorways and lay floor runners. Ten minutes here prevents an hour of confusion later.
08:15 – 11:00 — Loading
Heavy and rectangular first: white goods, wardrobes, sofas, mattresses. Boxes fill the gaps and go on top. Fragile items and the essentials box travel last so they come out first.
11:00 — Meter readings and the drive
Photograph gas, electric and water meters, lock up, and hand keys back as agreed. A local run across Wigan, Leigh or Bolton is usually 15–30 minutes.
11:30 – 14:00 — Unloading and reassembly
Boxes go straight into the room written on the label. Beds are rebuilt, wardrobes reassembled and appliances pushed into place before we do a final check of the van and a walk-through with you.
Frequently asked questions
What time do you start on moving day?
Most local removals start between 8am and 9am, which leaves the whole day for two runs if they are needed.
Do I need to be there for the whole move?
Someone should be present at both ends to direct where items go and to handle keys and meter readings.
